ThyssenKrupp Encasa Takes the Lift to the Cloud

6th June, 2012, Cambridge, UK; Anglia Business Solutions and ThyssenKrupp Encasa, formerly known as Lift Able today announce the completion of a project to deploy a state of the art Windows Azure Cloud based survey data collection application.

ThyssenKrupp Encasa, part of the ThyssenKrupp AG Group, is a specialist in access solutions, providing a range of stair lifts, home lifts and platform lifts to private dwellings and commercial or public buildings.

The application provides ThyssenKrupp Encasa field surveyors with an easy to use survey form, presented on an iPad, to efficiently and accurately record job site survey data.  The types of data recorded include: survey time & date, user, inspection type, client details, lift type, site measurements, lift configuration requirements and customer preferences.  In addition, for improved accuracy and understanding of customer requirements, surveyors can add annotations to diagrams or photographs taken whilst on site.

Once the survey is complete, the data is saved and sent to the Cloud using Microsoft Windows Azure.  Back at the office this data is immediately available to view using a secure website. In addition Anglia has integrated the new data capture application with ThyssenKrupp Encasas Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP solution so that the collected data can be viewed and utilized without the need to re-key.  Microsoft Reporting Services is also used to display KPI and dashboard views of the data at a touch of a button.

Speaking about the project, ThyssenKrupp Encasas UK Sales & Marketing Manager Chris Land said, “The main drivers for this project were the need to improve the efficiency of our survey data capture process by removing the use of paper based forms and labour intensive manual data input.  We also needed to be able to search historical customer records quickly without trawling mountains of paper.  An added bonus is we can also view historical performance data by user on the number of completed surveys, etc.”

Richard Jones, Director of Technology at Anglia added, “ThyssenKrupp Encasa did not want to undertake a large IT project at this stage, nor incur large hardware or software costs.  This solution is ideal; they are using low cost consumer devices, the software is self-installed and they can quickly design and configure as many survey questionnaires as required.  The solution can be used in locations without network access and the data is secured and backed up by Windows Azure.  The users themselves, the field sales team, can handle all of this without the need to involve Thyssen Krupp’s IT resources. ”

The solution will allow ThyssenKrupp Encasa to optimise the efficiency of their operational processes whilst improving the service provided to its customers.
